I came across a scientific article that seemed to be saying that in some cases of amnesia, long-term memories that are retrieved by cues, are at risk of being lost by the amnesia.
This made me think of a story-line where someone had such a condition. They knew that whenever they recalled a pass memory, it would be for the last time.
